Google DeepMind's new AI can model DNA, RNA, and ‘all life's molecules'

Google DeepMind's AlphaFold 3 can predict the structure of all of life's molecules. Previous versions of the model could only predict the structures of proteins. AlphaFold 3 can model DNA, RNA, and ligands. It shows a 50% improvement in prediction accuracy compared to its previous models. DeepMind is making the AlphaFold Server research platform, powered by AlphaFold 3, to some researchers for free for academic and noncommercial use.


Apple Unveils M4 AI Chip

Apple has announced its next-generation Apple Silicon chip, the M4, the company's first chip designed specifically for AI. Featuring a 3-nanometer architecture and debuting in the 2024 iPad Pro, the new chip boasts a 10-core CPU that is 50% faster than the M2 and a new Neural Engine capable of processing 38 trillion operations per second. It enhances applications that leverage AI, although specific AI features for iPadOS haven't been detailed yet.


Microsoft has built a secret spy bot

Microsoft's new spy model has been designed to help US intelligence agencies process and analyze vast quantities of classified information without compromising secrecy.


It’s built using OpenAI's GPT-4 model, has taken 18 months to develop, and is on a special network that's only accessible by the US government.

Plus, although it’s technically cloud-based, it’s built on a static cloud that’s completely isolated from the internet, leaving it unsusceptible to hacks and data leaks.
