According to the 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report by Microsoft and LinkedIn, generative AI is rapidly being adopted in workplaces, with 75% of global knowledge workers and 92% in India using it daily. In India, 72% of these users bring their own AI tools (BYOAI) to boost productivity. Employees find AI helps them save time, focus on important tasks, enhance creativity, and enjoy their work more. Despite recognizing AI's significance, 59% of leaders are cautious due to the pressure for immediate ROI. Generative AI is becoming essential for managing work efficiently.


Telangana to host global summit on AI in July: Sridhar Babu

Telangana, led by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, is set to host a global AI summit in July. The state has allocated 200 acres to establish Hyderabad as India's 'AI capital.' The summit aims to attract AI experts worldwide, reinforcing Hyderabad's position as a hub for AI research and development.


Full-scale emergency at Bengaluru airport after AI Express plane's engine catches fire

On May 18, 2024, Air India Express flight IX 1132 from Bengaluru to Kochi made an emergency landing at Kempegowda International Airport due to a fire in one of the engines. All 179 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated with no injuries reported, and the fire was extinguished upon landing. This incident underscores the importance of safety protocols during emergencies. Similarly, another Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru recently faced an emergency due to a fire in the plane's AC unit.


NGO ‘Swecha’ announces internship program on AI

Swecha, a non-profit fostering Free Software and Free Knowledge, launches "Summer of AI" program. It trains thousands of engineering students in AI skills and aids in creating a Telugu language-centric Language Model (LLM) with IIIT Hyderabad, Ozonetel, and partners. Projects include building Text-to-Speech models and contributing to AI²'s supercomputing cluster.
