Apple acquires French AI startup Datakalab, specializing in on-device computer vision tech. Deal finalized December 17, 2023. Aims to boost AI features on iPhone and other devices. Datakalab founded in 2017 by Xavier and Lucas Fischer. Focus on compressing neural networks for fast, cost-effective, and precise embedded computer vision. Apple now owns 100% stake. Last month, Apple also acquired Canadian AI startup DarwinAI.


FPT and Nvidia plan a $200M AI factory in Vietnam, aiming to advance AI research, focusing on generative AI and autonomous driving. FPT aims to replicate this model in Japan and South Korea. Nvidia commits to supporting talent development in AI and digital infrastructure. The collaboration includes multiple units within FPT, with tailored agreements. Nvidia previously invested $250M in Vietnam. FPT, valued at $5.5B, offers AI, cloud, and big data services, with revenues exceeding $2B last year.


InterGlobe Enterprises and C P Gurnani launch AIonOS, an AI business venture. Rahul Bhatia, InterGlobe's Group Managing Director, and Gurnani, Executive Vice Chairman, announced the joint venture in Delhi. AIonOS aims to accelerate digital transformation using AI solutions. It's a joint venture between InterGlobe and Gurnani's family office, Assago, with InterGlobe holding the majority stake. Headquarters are in Singapore.


Zscaler releases 2024 Phishing Report, revealing a 60% increase in global phishing attacks driven by AI-driven schemes like vishing and deepfake phishing. The report offers actionable insights and best practices for enhancing security posture. Deepen Desai, CSO, emphasizes the need for proactive defenses, integrating zero trust architecture and AI-powered prevention controls.


Brave Search has revamped its answer engine to include AI-synthesized responses worldwide, leveraging large language models and trusted data sources. The upgrade enables automatic or manual AI-enhanced answers to user queries. Brave acknowledges potential impacts on web publishers and plans to monitor and address the effects of AI-generated content on site traffic.
